Walsall will be aiming to make amends for the FA Cup defeat to Bristol Rovers when they take on Southend United on day 12 of the new League Two campaign. The Saddlers will not have a better chance than this to get back on course as they play host to the rock-bottom side. Walsall defeated Crawley in their last home game in the League Two, which is certainly giving fans a reason for optimism ahead of Saturday’s showdown.

The Seasiders, on the other hand, do not seem to be competitive at this level, and, as things stand now, they will find it hard to avoid relegation to the National League. Southend United are on a six-game losing run in the League Two, and given their shaky defence, the visitors are unlikely to spoil Walsall’s party at Bescot Stadium on Matchday 12.
