Benfica quickly bounce back from back-to-back losses to Boavista and Braga, with the team outplaying the likes of Maritimo and Ferreira in the previous two league fixtures. The Eagles are obviously determined to make amends for the unsuccessful 2019/20 Primeira Liga campaign where they failed to impress in the post-corona period. The capital club aim to overtake their bitter local rivals Sporting in top position in the standings, and we are positive that they will go all guns blazing at Gil Vicente.

Vitor Oliveira’s troops have been showing signs of improvement of late, with the team beating Rio Ave at home, while sharing the spoils with Moreirense on the road. Gil Vicente, though, face an uphill task in Sunday’s clash against Benfica, and they are unlikely to make life difficult for the Portuguese vice-champions. Summer signing Luca Waldschmidt, who scored the winner against Ferreira, is pushing for a start.
